Secondly, our multi-sensory approach is a cornerstone of our specialist teaching. We recognise that children learn best when their multiple sensory systems are engaged, thus enhancing their overall understanding and retention of information. By integrating various sensory experiences into our lessons, we accommodate diverse learning styles and ensure that every child can engage meaningfully with the content.

Regular retrieval practices are embedded across the curriculum to strengthen learning schemata. Encouraging children to recall facts, concepts, and events not only enhances their memory but also assists in closing knowledge gaps, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of their learning.

At Light Years we follow the national curriculum, which we meticulously plan and deliver in a logical sequence. Our connected curriculum drivers for each half term create an immersive learning experience, enabling children to see the interconnections between various subjects.

Lastly, we celebrate reading as an integral part of our curriculum. By providing multiple opportunities for children to explore a wide range of texts, we promote a love for reading that contributes to their overall academic success and personal growth. We truly believe that reading is the 'golden thread' throughout our curriculum.
